Segment & CDP Implementation
Customer data platform build on Segment, RudderStack, or similar. Covers tracking plan enforcement, source and destination configuration, identity resolution, and the governance that stops the schema drifting.
What's included
Architecture
- Platform selection with the trade-offs written down, since a CDP is a long commitment
- Source configuration across web, mobile, server, and cloud sources
- Destination setup for analytics, ads, email, CRM, and warehouse
- Event routing and filtering per destination, so you stop paying to send everything everywhere
- Warehouse sync schedule and schema design
Tracking plan and governance
- Tracking plan defined in the platform with schema validation enforced
- Blocked and unplanned event handling, so a rogue release can't pollute production
- Property type enforcement and required field rules
- Naming conventions applied consistently across every source
- Change process for adding new events
Identity
- Identify and alias call placement across signup, login, and impersonation flows
- Anonymous to known user merging rules
- Account and group level resolution for B2B products
- Trait precedence when two sources disagree about the same user
- Deduplication across sources
Privacy and cost
- Consent enforcement before events reach destinations
- PII handling and field-level suppression per destination
- Data deletion request workflow
- Event volume monitoring against your plan tier, since CDP bills grow faster than anyone budgets for
Deliverable
- Architecture diagram and documented tracking plan
- Migration path if you're moving off an existing setup
- Handover session and runbook
Why it matters
A CDP solves a real problem, which is sending the same clean event to twelve places without writing twelve integrations. It also creates a new one, because every downstream tool now depends on a single schema. When that schema drifts, everything breaks at once.
Which is why governance matters more than connector setup. Anyone can click through sources and destinations in an afternoon. Enforcing the tracking plan, getting identity resolution right, and controlling what actually flows where is what decides whether this is an asset in two years or the reason nobody trusts the data.
